About Me

If you’re interested in knowing more about me this is the place to look |
Why I started this website: As we go down the road of life we all know there are curves. Some are mapped, and some are not. As a child I was diagnosed with severe uncorrectable Amblyopia in my right eye. Not life threatening, but there were obstacles that I had to overcome while growing up with severely limited eyesight in my right eye. Now, in my late fifties, I have developed a different disease in my left eye and can only see shapes and shadows. My hope in creating this website is to share my experiences and listen to yours so that we can discuss the frustrations and learn new ways to improve and enjoy our lives. Every one has a joy or hobby that they once embraced. Some where someone with the same desires may want to share how they overcame obstacles to continue to live their life in a meaningful way. So let’s take the ride, see what others have done and share our thoughts with each other. Let’s get started by posting comments and keep in touch with each other! We are still functional, intelligent individuals that can achieve goals in life. |
My history: I was born in 1949 as the second to the youngest of seven children. I’ve lived in the Northwest most my life. I enjoy my two children and my five grandchild, age 1 yrs and 6 yrs old; I have been a very active person in my life. I’ve done factory work, Wild Life Agent (Game Warden) for the State of Washington, owned my own businesses, ranging from consulting to restaurant owner and many things in between. I have also been a published writer for thirty two years and one of my biggest goals is to return to writing again. My wife and I divorced 6 years ago and I left her with the house and most of our financial worth. Shortly after that I developed problems with my one good eye. It started with branched retinal vein occlusions and macular edema. No one can really tell me why it keeps getting worse, just a lot of speculation. Life threw me an unfortunate curve and I am working around the many obstacles and challenges. The main thing is to keep fighting to get the right help and answers, both financially and medically. What I have experienced in the past months is a need for change in our current system. One should not have to fight for something we contributed to all our lives – Social Security Disability Benefits. Disability hurdles are amoung the many low vision topics I would like to discuss in this forum. |
My Goals: To be able to sustain a enjoyable life. Take my grandchildren fishing. Live on my own, a life that may be frustrating but is also fruitful and meaningful. I gain much safisfaction through accomplishment. If I can help others and learn from others, then I have succeeded in my ultimate goal. So post your comments, let us know what we can do for you or what you can do for someone else. Get started by going to the main page and click on “post comments” in the link section located on the right side of the home page…..Thank you |
